Data Collection & Transparency

Effective Date: January 2026

Summary: We collect your location and device data solely to verify your physical presence in class. We do not sell your data or track you outside of active attendance scanning.

1 Information We Collect

To ensure the integrity of academic records, we collect the following data points when you use the application:

Geolocation Data

Precise GPS coordinates (Latitude/Longitude) are captured only at the specific moment you scan a QR code. We do not track you continuously.

Device Fingerprint

We record your IP Address, Device Model, OS Version, and Browser type to prevent account sharing and proxy attendance.

2 How We Use Your Data

  • Attendance Verification

Comparing your geolocation against the classroom's geofence to validate presence.

  • Security & Fraud Detection

Analyzing IP patterns to detect if multiple students are logging in from a single device (Anti-Proxy measures).

  • Academic Reporting

Generating PDF/CSV reports for Faculty and Administration usage.

3 Data Access & Third Parties

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal identification information to outside parties. Data access is strictly limited to:

Entity Purpose
University Admin Disciplinary review & Academic records
Faculty Members Viewing attendance for their specific courses
Supabase Inc. Cloud Database Hosting (Encrypted)

4 Data Retention & Security

Storage Security

All data is stored in secure, encrypted databases provided by Supabase. Passwords are hashed using industry-standard algorithms (bcrypt/argon2).

Retention Period

Attendance logs are retained for the duration of the academic year plus one semester for dispute resolution, after which they are archived or deleted.

Student Rights: You have the right to request a copy of your attendance logs. If you believe your data is incorrect due to a technical error, please contact the System Administrator immediately.
